Omegamtn has been the home of quality border collies since 2001. Our first border collie, Zorro , was a rescue that introduced us to the intelligence and personality of this remarkable breed. At Omegamtn we breed to the AKC/BCSA standard for the border collie but we also strive to maintain the herding instinct of the breed. Only healthy dogs from quality lines and pedigrees are used for breeding. Puppies are available for pet, show, performance and working homes. Click the picture to see more about our current dogs.
The farm was established in 1938 by my grandfather Earl Brandon.I train and sell Border Collies that are bred to work cattle. I only breed proven males and females on occasion based purely on their working abilities. Both parents have to be proven dogs that can work fresh cattle efficiently. I am a lifetime member of the United States Border Collie Handlers Association (USBCHA) and the American Border Collie Association (ABCA).
We are dedicated to the gentle and humane breeding of purebred Border Collie dogs. We take pride in making sure out dogs have the run of the farm (our farm is a vineyard) every day. They display traits of independent thinking, reasoning, fast learning, and high physical/mental energy. Our dogs all have the “herding” instinct, but mostly, they have the “I love you” instinct.
We raise working Anatolian Shepherd Dogs and Border Collies. Located in western North Carolina, we have sheep, goats and cattle. Our Anatolian Shepherds are guardian dogs against coyotes, bear, hawks, and bobcats. Our Border Collies are working herding dogs. We provide herding clinics and training for all herding breeds as well as guardian dog training for puppies no older than 3 months.
I purchased my first dog and from there it was something that i have enjoyed ever since. I have learned a lot from other handlers and have found that training dogs is something i really enjoy. My dogs have qualified for the national cattle finals for the past several years. It is my goal to produce quality stock dogs that will work rank cattle when needed but be able to be trailed on the weekend .
